In the marker for a Pottery wheel

Well the season is almost done at the good ol'high school and soon I will be out of an option for gettin gmy fix at the pottery wheel. So, since I got a tini-tiny bit of space in the living room...If I get rid of the sofa and M___ freakin' 5.5'x2 feet long storage box...with hum, nothing in it!? [grrrr!] I shall be able to have a bit of room for my own stuff. anyhoo...

I am debating between an electric wheel or a human powered one...

the "Great Lakes Throw-N-Go Pottery Wheel" is pretty intersting, although I don't know where your slips goes...or if it's a major pain to clean afterwards. I find the fact that it's so small to be an advantage

Ron Mueck - Hyper Realism Sculptor

I am not a super big fan of Hyper realism, but it's one of those things where you just can't stop looking. It's just fascinating the work gone into these sculptures.

Or how to spot a viral campain

Sometimes I just wonder about my profession.
We're just f*kers. That's really it. We're just spammers, people who fill people's garbage with junkmail and waiste people time with publicity crap.

Anyway. At work, there is talk about building a viral campain for one of our big client that I can't name of course, well only if I really want to loose my job. Well, I probably loose my job soon anyway, but until then, I am enjoy a bit of a paycheck. And that's a good thing.

And on with the viral subject.
Now that I have dragged my profession in the mud a little bit, I will also tell you that there are some brilliant viral campains out there. And dome idiotic ones too.

Some, I don't even know if they are real campains or if it's just a moron doing some near-free of free publicity for big products...Like this guy on Blogger which says he likes "jucy fruit' or whatever. You probably got some spam from him, I won't even post a link to his "site" because it is of no interest and I don't want to make any publicity for him because it's a total waiste of time. But if you got some spam coments from him, you probably know who I'm talking about.

Waht I am trying to say it that sometimes, companies make blogs or websites that are boggus just to have extra possible reference to their products, that they can control. One example is the whole It's all Gone Pete Tong web campain. Where they had references to the character, Franky wild, as if he was a real DJ...

Another one is Adidas, using "Super Greg"

And
Yes my friends it is true! So just beware, and always be concious that, it's a world of logos and publicity we live in, so be concious of it.

The links I have posted here are for intest value.
I don't support these companies in any ways.

peace.

Graphic Designers

Here I am posting designers that inspire me:

Jay Gaylor. Love his still. It is all 'deja vue' sure, but whatever. I can't help loving it!
http://www.jgaylor.com

--------------------
abiuro.com is the site of Alexandre Braga from Sao-Paulo Brazil.
I love his designs.

--------------------

Here i a designer that's really into explaining the process of his designs. What's the most striking about all his presentations is enthousiam, he's an unbelivably good presenter and a great designer. He shall go far, I just hope that no one breaks his dream with cheap design or design with deadlines so tight and clients so rigid that the only thing that you feel appart from a lack of enthousiam, is stressed out.

I am sure he got so much hits lately he had to pay more for bandwith

Margaret Kilgallen, mural artist.

This is sad.
I go check out this artist's stuff and quickly find out she died of breast cancer in 2001!
Margaret Kilgallen, was an awesome mural painter, amongts other things. She just had given birth to a baby girl, when she died at age 33 in 2001.

She had studied print art in college in Washington but now lived in San Fran, and had just completed a master degree in Art at Stanford. She was, or had been also an avid surfer, and apparently a banjo player as well — I love people who explore different aspects of their experience and are more than just 'an artist', a basketball player, or whatever.

Her work draws a lot on folk art with the addition of a strong social comment, the use of great muted colour harmonies and very interesting use of hand made typographic elements. The fact that her work is also very 2 dimentional and flat really appeals to me.

Logo books

Identity work is complex because it involves a lot of distillation and a lot of general knowledge. Checking out other people's work although not essential helps putting things into contexts. This is partially why I look at these books.

Logo: Lab, Featuring 18 case studies that demonstrate identity creation from concept to completion. CHRISTOPHER SIMMONS. 2005

I haven't read or flipped through this book. But I know this guy is extremelly talented and has an overall understanding of branding which makes this book desirable. I guess this is one of the many 'note to self' you'll see in my booknotes.
